Tonky Frans - NB7

  • Still hungry for the world tittle

    8 November 2015

After a season participating in five events, four included in the PWA World Tour Free Style 2015 plus the EFTP Lanzarote, Tonky Frans finishes the year in the top ten of Free Style. Only four events in the tour, and the wind was missing in two of the events he was taking part of, what did not help to his ranking, but he still dreams to gain the world tittle. He is about to move to Bonaire for some training before the tour 2016 to get to start as he confesses that he “is still hungry for the tittle”.

“If there is not wind there is nothing you can do, this we know. So the Town In is such a good solution:  you can make moves that you couldn’ t do easily with natural conditions”, estimates Tonky. The two events where the Town In was the solution to celebrate the competion were Podersdorf (Austria) an Sylt (Germany) and there the rider enjoyed the full speed which he says is “an amazing feeling”.

His best scores of the year were second on the podium of EFTP Lanzarote, and 5th in the Fuerteventura PWA. This events have been the ones that Tonky has appreciated the most. The first one takes place at his actual local spot, Las Cucharas (Costa Teguise), and he is very used to go to Fuerteventura to train during the year as well. Furthermore, the Hotel H10 Playa Esmeralda has welcome him once again during the event what has made his stay in the island much more comfortable and familiar.

Gaastra Ga Sails, Tabou boards, CHIEMSEE clothing, Lsd fins and Al360 Booms have been supporting him during the last season. And so have been the other riders from Bonaire what offers to Tonky very good vibrations as “it is always a good feeling to have family around, specially during competition when we support each other”, he says.
